Haunted history of Tupelo theatres may be more than patrons bargain for – MS News Group

Summary:

While Tupelo is best known for Elvis Presley, locals also trade ghost stories – especially about the historic Lyric Theatre. After the 1936 F5 tornado, the Lyric served as a makeshift hospital where tools were reportedly sterilized with a popcorn popper and bodies were stored under the stage. Staff say a resident spirit nicknamed “Antoine” still makes mischief by humming and hiding keys – believed to be either a former caretaker or a child who died during the storm.
