Tupelo Community Theatre’s 16th annual Haunted Theatre, “Phantoxic,” in 2023 ran for the first time ever on Halloween night at the Lyric (201 N. Broadway). Directed by Steve Miller, the “pro haunt” featured 18 themed rooms (six more than 2022) and a 20–27 minute walkthrough that mixed jump scares with interactive storytelling and detailed sets. While there’s no age limit, TCT recommended 11+. The all-volunteer production is the group’s largest fundraiser. The Lyric’s resident ghost “Antoine” is part of the lore – staff report odd happenings like lights switching on, objects moving, a recurring mirror fingerprint, and activity in the fabric room – though he tends to avoid crowds.
