Summary:
For more than a dozen years in 2024, Steve Miller has transformed Tupelo’s Lyric Theatre into the town’s Haunted Theatre, despite disliking horror movies himself. After attending an early version he thought “too theatrical,” he was invited to help and ended up taking charge – leading the event for 13 years with builder Dave Dawson and about 16 volunteers. What began with no budget evolved into a large production, as Miller studied other haunts and added animatronics, pneumatics, and classic scares, continually hunting for props at yard sales and the St. Louis Halloween & Attractions Show. The Lyric’s lore – including a resident ghost named Antione – adds to the atmosphere.
